Peter J. Goodman is a partner at Berger, Fischoff, Shumer, Wexler and Goodman, LLP. Mr. Goodman has been a practicing attorney since 1996 and practices in the areas of real estate law, religious corporation law, and small business transactions.
Mr. Goodman has represented thousands of residential & commercial purchasers, sellers, and lenders in New York, including drafting and negotiating contracts, title resolution, and closing of title. Additionally, Mr. Goodman has extensive experience representing real estate brokerages as corporate counsel in preparing the necessary contracts to better run their brokerages as well as to comply with necessary licensing requirements.
Mr. Goodman regularly represents Religious Corporations in obtaining Attorney General and/or Court approval to sell or finance religious corporate property. Mr. Goodman also represents Religious Corporations in structuring their organization, including incorporation, compliance, and/or dissolution.
Mr. Goodman is a regular presenter on various real estate and religious corporation topics and has presented to LIBOR, the Long Island Housing Partnership, the Community Development Corporation of Long Island, The Neighborhood Housing Services, the Center of New York City Neighborhoods as well as many private organizations. Mr. Goodman has also published several legal articles and has been quoted in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Long Island Business News, and New York Newsday.
Mr. Goodman is a 1992 graduate of the George Washington University and a 1995 graduate of the Hofstra University School of Law. He was admitted to the Bar on January 31, 1996. Mr. Goodman is on the Board of Trustees of The Academy Charter School and is a member of the Long Island Housing Crisis Task Force, the New York State Coalition For Excellence in Homeownership Education, the Brooklyn Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, the Long Island Board of Realtors, the United States District Court-Eastern District of New York and is the former treasurer for the Town of Hempstead Democratic Committee.
Mr. Goodman lives in Nassau County with his wife and two children and is an active member of the local community.
