Heath S. Berger, Esq., Awarded As Pro Bono Attorney Of The Month

Berger, Fischoff, Shumer, Wexler & Goodman, LLP, is excited to announce that Heath S. Berger, Esq, has been named the Pro Bono Attorney of the Month by the Nassau Suffolk Law Services (NSLS) Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) and the Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA). This is the third time Berger has been awarded this honor by the NSLS.

Bankruptcy Attorney Pro Bono Work

According to the announcement, Berger was recognized for his near-50 hours of assistance for 22 low-income clients in the last year. As a bankruptcy attorney, Berger helped these clients by filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy petitions on their behalf. As a result of this pro bono work, these clients now have the opportunity of a clean financial slate — without the legal fees.

Throughout his career as a bankruptcy attorney, Berger has developed a stellar reputation for his pro bono work. In fact, the announcement also cites that Berger has volunteered more than 530 hours of time helping VLP clients facing bankruptcy scenarios.

Berger has also served on the VLP panel of bankruptcy attorneys for the last 15 years. In this capacity, Berger accepts Chapter 7 Bankruptcy referrals and handles the petitions from start to finish. For this work, Berger has been recognized as the Pro Bono Attorney of the Month in both 2006 and 2011.
